How Much Does Interior Car Detailing Cost in Perth?

How Much Does Interior Car Detailing Cost in Perth?

At Roilty FX, an interior-only detail starts at $150 + GST for a small car. If you want the seats shampooed and extracted, or leather cleaned and conditioned, it starts at $230 + GST. Bigger cars and very dirty ones cost more, so the final price depends on your car.

That’s the short answer. Below, you’ll see why quotes vary so much and what you get for the money. You’ll also see how to get a price you can trust before any work starts.

Why do interior detailing quotes vary so much?

If you’ve asked around, you’ve probably seen prices from well under $100 to well over $300. Airtasker’s national cost guide lists interior car detailing at $65 to $225 (Airtasker, 2025). That’s a wide gap for something with the same name.

The gap usually comes down to five things.

1. What "interior detail" actually means

There’s no standard definition. One business calls a vacuum and wipe-down an interior detail. Another includes shampooing and extracting every seat. Before you compare prices, check what each quote includes.

2. The size of the car

A small hatch has less carpet, fewer seats and a smaller boot than a 7-seat SUV or a dual-cab ute. More surface means more time, and time is most of the cost.

3. The condition it's in

This is the big one. Two identical cars can take very different amounts of time. Dog hair woven into carpet, beach sand under the seats and red dirt in the vents all take extra work to remove properly.

4. Fabric or leather seats

Fabric seats in the Premium Detail are shampooed and extracted. That pulls dirt and moisture out of the foam, not just off the surface. Leather seats are cleaned, then conditioned and protected. Both take longer than a simple wipe.

5. Whether GST is shown

Some prices include GST and some don’t. Roilty FX lists prices plus GST, so $150 + GST is $165 all up. Make sure you’re comparing like with like.

Basic or Premium: which one do you need?

Here’s a simple way to decide.

Choose the Basic Detail if:

  • your seats look fine and just need a vacuum
  • the car is mostly dusty, with crumbs and fingerprints
  • you have it cleaned regularly and want to keep it that way

Choose the Premium Detail if:

  • your fabric seats have spills, marks or a stale smell
  • you have kids, pets or a car that does school runs
  • your leather seats look dry, shiny or dirty in the creases
  • you’re getting the car ready to sell or hand back
If you’re not sure, send a few photos and we’ll tell you which one fits your car.

What can push the price up?

Most surprises on the day come from a few common problems. It’s better to know about them up front.

Problem

Why it adds time

Heavy pet hair

Dog hair weaves into carpet and fabric. It often needs special tools and several passes.

Beach sand

Sand sinks deep into carpet and hides in seat rails and door pockets.

Red dirt after a trip

Fine dust gets into vents, seat stitching and the boot.

Spills that have soaked in

Milk, coffee and juice soak into the seat foam and can smell later.

Strong smells

Smoke, damp or pet smells mean finding and treating the cause, not just cleaning surfaces.

Mould or a wet interior

The car has to be dried properly, and the leak has to be found.

Some of these need more than a standard detail. If the problem is a smell, our guide on how to remove bad smells from a car interior explains what usually causes it. After a trip up north, the 4WD detailing guide covers red dirt and sand.

When an interior detail is worth paying for

An interior detail is worth the money when it solves a real problem. Some common reasons people book one:

  • You’re selling the car. A clean, fresh interior helps buyers see a car that’s been looked after. Read more about detailing before you sell.
  • It’s a work vehicle being handed back. Utes and vans often need a proper clean before handover. Businesses can also look at our fleet vehicle detailing.
  • The family car has had a rough year. Crumbs, spilt drinks and sticky seats build up faster than most people notice.
  • Summer is coming and you have leather seats. Heat and UV are hard on leather. A clean and condition helps. See how to protect leather car seats from cracking.

Why a cheap interior clean can cost more later

A very cheap clean isn’t always a bad deal. If your car is already tidy, a quick vacuum may be all it needs.

The problem is when a cheap clean is sold as a full detail. Seats get a wipe instead of an extraction. The vents, seat rails and door pockets get missed. The car looks better for a week, but the dirt that caused the smell is still there.

Then you pay again to have it done properly. We go into this in more detail in cheap vs professional car detailing.

How to get an accurate quote

The more we know up front, the closer the quote will be to the final price. When you get in touch, include:

  • the make and model, or at least the type of car (hatch, sedan, SUV, ute)
  • whether the seats are fabric or leather
  • two or three photos of the seats, carpet and boot
  • any pets, kids’ car seats, stains or smells
  • roughly when it was last cleaned properly
  • your suburb and whether you’d like it done at home or work

Whoever you book, it’s also worth asking these questions:

  • Is GST included in the price?
  • Are the seats shampooed and extracted, or just wiped?
  • Is pet hair or sand removal extra?
  • How long will it take?
  • Do you need my water and power?

How to keep the next detail cheaper

Small habits make a big difference to how long your next interior detail takes, and what it costs.

  • Shake out the floor mats every week or two.
  • Use a seat cover or boot liner for dogs.
  • Deal with spills on the day, before they soak in.
  • Keep a small bin or bag in the car.
  • Book a regular clean so dirt doesn’t build up.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Prices are listed plus GST. For example, the Premium Detail from $230 + GST is $253 including GST.

Usually 1.5 to 4 hours, depending on the size and condition of the car. Our guide on how long car detailing takes breaks this down further.

Not always. Many stains come out, but some have set into the fabric or changed its colour. We’ll tell you honestly before we start which ones are likely to lift.

Cleaning makes the car look tidy. Detailing goes into the gaps, vents, seat rails and fabric, so the car is properly clean, not just clean on the surface. Our guide to car interior detailing in Perth explains what a proper detail covers.
